Statement of Purpose

We define Career Killing Moves (CKM) as intentional decisions that Women of Color (WOC) make to redesign the professional standards derived from white patriarchal ideologies that fail to cultivate authenticity and empowerment. Through radical transformation, we can use CKM to build career and personal innovation. 

Mission

CKM strives to decolonize the ways WOC in Academia and Student Affairs, have been socialized to navigate career preparation, advancement and professional development. We believe that agency, authenticity, and failing forward are essential ingredients for thriving with in higher education and achieving personal success.

Services

CKM provides the following services:

• Consult on employee recruitment and retention.

• Develop and host workshops on diversity, equity, inclusion, career navigation and professional development.

• Facilitate dialogues on career issues for Women of Color in higher education.

Vision

By centering the professional narratives, lessons, and testimonies of WOC in higher education CKM will create a brave space for WOC to LEAP:

• Learn with and from one another by sharing professional journeys 

• Engage with multi-faceted platforms that foster a trusting community of support 

• Align your mind, body, and spirit through reflective and action-based practice

• Prepare to take risks that require a prioritization of your professional needs, passions, and goals.
